Hello, my name is Tamara Johnson and I started this crazy wellness journey of mine many years ago. In fact, I have been starting and restarting this journey most of my life. I would definitely say I can relate to the yo-yo dieting trends. When I was a teenager, I had the metabolism of a flea and was honestly never taught how to eat sensibly or healthy; but then most of my meals were home-cooked and fast food was just taking hold. Processed foods were really not a "thing" yet. I never even considered that I might have to worry about the foods and chemicals I put into my body. Fast-forward some years and WOW have things changed!
My wellness journey started back in 2011 when my attempts to lose weight had once again failed. After doing a great deal of research I started to remove the "process" from my foods and eat as naturally as possible. The weight started to come off. I have always been cautious about taking medications, so why would I choose to put other unknowns into my system? It made sense. I spent the next three years living clean, working out, and just plain enjoying life. It may sound like a lot of work, but it's really just getting back to our roots. Making "real" food instead of relying all all the handy premade stuff. Yes, it does take a bit more work, but it's so worth it in the end.
In 2014, I was diagnosed with asthma. I was SHOCKED...I've never had allergies and I had been eating healthy, working out, and running multiple times a week for years? It was once again time to do my research..... and this lead me to the multitudes of toxins we ingest and inhale each and every day. This set me on the path to find alternatives.
I lost my dad to cancer when he was only 47 years old. Learning that only 5-10% of all cancer is genetic made me realize there are things we can do to help prevent that nasty disease. One of the first steps is cleaning up the things we choose to put into our bodies.
I have an amazing family (crazy husband, three children and three grandchildren) and I'm determined to do everything that I can to be around for them for many years to come. Life is far too short to live it unhealthy and miserable. Make a choice - Life is Short...Live it Healthy and Be Happy!!!
